Why visit

There's nowhere else in the British Isles quite like it — a 'lost' island colony you can only reach by sea, often shared only with seabirds.

The full story

Several operators run dedicated trips to the Écréhous — a string of granite islets and fishermen's huts six miles north-east of Jersey. At low tide a sandbar emerges; at high tide it shrinks to a handful of rocks. Tours combine wildlife spotting with a stop ashore.

Good to know

Strictly tide-dependent. Bring binoculars and a windproof.
