Short version: we don't sell your data, we don't run cross-site tracking, and we only store what's needed to make the site work (like your saved places, locally on your device).
Who we are
Jersey Island Travel is an independent, non-profit visitor guide run by a local resident on the island of Jersey, Channel Islands. We are not affiliated with the Government of Jersey, Visit Jersey, or any tourism board. See our About page.
What we collect
- Saved places & trip plans — stored locally in your browser (localStorage). They never leave your device unless you sign in.
- If you sign in (optional, only on certain features) — your email and the trip plans you save to your account.
- Basic, aggregated analytics — page views and approximate country/region. No personal profiles, no ad tracking.
- Server logs — short-lived technical logs (IP, browser) needed to keep the site online and protect against abuse.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers.
- We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
- We do not build a profile of you across other websites.
Third parties we rely on
- Map tiles from OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Hosting and database infrastructure (used only to serve the site).
- AI services that power the trip planner — your planner inputs are sent to them to generate an itinerary, and are not used to train models or identify you.
Cookies
We use a minimal number of cookies / localStorage entries. Details are on the Cookies page.
Your rights
You can clear your saved data at any time by clearing your browser storage or by deleting your account if you created one. If you'd like a copy of any account data we hold about you, or want it deleted, email us at hello@jerseyislandtravel.example.
Children
This site is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
If we update this policy, the date at the top will change. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage.
