The Boat House

A bright, glass-fronted bar and restaurant built right over St Aubin's harbour wall, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the boats, the curve of the bay and the hills beyond. Downstairs has a more relaxed pub feel with local ales and bar snacks, while the upstairs restaurant leans into seafood and sharing plates, from oysters and moules to a well-regarded fish and chips. As the sun goes down over St Aubin's Bay the whole room turns gold, making it one of the most reliable sunset spots on the south coast. It works equally well for a casual after-work pint, a long lazy lunch, or a proper date-night dinner with a view. Groups tend to gravitate to the bar, while couples favour the window tables upstairs.

Bookings recommended for the restaurant side, especially for window tables at sunset - the bar downstairs is more come-as-you-are.
