Mont Orgueil Castle
A spectacular medieval fortress towering over Gorey Harbour.

Bronze sculpture in Liberation Square marking the end of the German Occupation in 1945.
Unveiled in 1995 for the 50th anniversary of Liberation, this bronze group by Philip Jackson shows islanders raising the Union Jack on a globe — the centrepiece of Liberation Square and the focal point of the island's annual 9 May Liberation Day celebrations.
A short stop with a powerful story — the most photographed sculpture on the island.
Square hosts an open-air market in summer; cafés on three sides.
La Route de la Libération, Saint-Helier, Jersey JE2 3AS
Ideal for a meeting place. Plenty of outdoor cafe and bistro type food outlets.
A nice monument reminding about Jersey`s liberation after WWII. The port and the main bus station are nearby.
The centrepiece of the square is The Jersey Liberation Monument. It is a striking and lifelike representation of the Jersey population waving the Union Flag when the British Armed Forces liberated them after five years of German occupation during World War Two. If you have any interest in history or the occupation of Jersey in World War Two, the look of relief that the statues display is totally understandable.
