The facility’s commitment to accessibility is clear through its pay-and-play model, meaning no long-term commitments are required for a casual game or a refreshing swim. Its broad range of offerings reflects a thoughtful understanding of diverse sporting needs, evolving over time to include modern fitness amenities while retaining its core appeal as a place for traditional racquet sports and swimming. It is a place where islanders and visitors alike can find a space to move and rejuvenate.

Gym: The gym itself is good. It's split into three rooms. There is the cardio room, the free weights room, with mats for stretching and the cables/machines room, with two squat racks. The gym was refurbished around covid time, which was a big upgrade to what it was like before. What lets the gym down though are two things: Firstly, the lack of plates. There are 9 machines / equipment which require plates to operate. There are 3 sets of 25kg plates, a handful of 20kgs and 15kgs, some 10kgs and a load of 5kgs. This is fine on a quiet day, but imagine trying to get anything done if 4 or 5 of the 9 plate-reliant machines are being used at the same time, or if someone is deadlifting. Second issue: the gym users... It seems like no one is capable of tidying up after themselves. Within the last two weeks the leg press had 160kg left on it, multiple dumbbells left on the machine room floor, littered between the two squat racks, meaning anyone looking to use one of the racks would have to move the dumbbells to the side at least so they could set up without standing on them and cable attachments all over the floor around the cables. I include the PTs in this mini rant. One has this annoying habit of leaving equipment out ready for their next client, rather than putting it away so someone else could use it in the 20-30 minutes they're not, considering it is gym equipment, not their own personal gear they're bringing in. Another decides to set her clients up between machines, meaning people can't use them, despite what she has her clients doing could've been done pretty much anywhere in the room. For example, setting up between the leg raise bench and plated back row, meaning it would be very difficult for anyone to use either machine, when she could've set her client up anywhere in the room to sit on a plyo cube raising one leg at a time. There is a permanent sign up outside the gym saying the gym is unmanned due to staff shortages. When a member of staff is on duty in the gym, they tend to sit at the desk outside, rather than floating between the three rooms. Could be policy, that they have to man the desk, despite the fact you fob yourelf in and out. Most likely laziness / complacency. Even when they do occasionally patrol the gym, there is no effort to encourage users to respect the facilities in terms of tidying up after themselves. For example, other than the issue with not reracking plates or returning equipment to its proper place, the amount of times people leave empty water bottles lying around is beyond a joke. All in all, the gym itself is good, but there are a lot of users who let it down through laziness (not all, but most, which, in itself is bad) and staff who don't/ won't pick up on it. Take Springfield gym, which is also Active. Staff there are in the gym, walking around making sure everything is okay. On the odd occasion when someone doesn't rerack their plates, staff will be over to them asking if they'd finished with them before politely requesting they tidy up for the next person to use.

The Jersey Hockey Club now have a 24/7 Public Accessible Defibrillator thanks to the Jersey Heart Support Group charity who donated the device after a request from the club. The club organised the purchase of the cabinet which will provide the sports club and supporters a lifeline in an emergency Cardiac Arrest. Great result πŸ‘ to all participants who helped this happen.
