The story

St Aubin is one of Jersey's most appealing waterfront villages — a granite harbour ringed by bistros, bars and steep lanes — and The Inn puts you right at its centre. The hotel occupies the upper floors above The Inn's own bistro and bar, a long-standing local favourite, so the buzz of the harbour is quite literally on your doorstep and beneath your feet. The eight rooms are a contemporary mix of doubles and family-friendly options, several looking out over the boats and the bay, and breakfast is taken downstairs in the restaurant. It is a small, characterful bolt-hole rather than a full-service hotel: the appeal is location and atmosphere, with the ferry terminal, the flat railway-path cycleway and a whole string of St Aubin's seafood restaurants all within a few minutes' walk. For a short break built around eating well and exploring on foot, it is one of the best-placed stays on the island.

What to expect

Expect a compact, contemporary boutique stay above a lively bistro rather than a quiet retreat — the bar and restaurant below are part of the experience, and the harbour outside is busy in summer. Rooms are bright and modern, with doubles and family options and some harbour views; breakfast is downstairs in the restaurant. There is no lift, so be prepared for stairs to the upper floors. It is open year-round but has only a handful of rooms, so it books up early for summer and peak weekends, sometimes with a minimum stay. Everything in the village is on foot.

Highlights

  • Eight contemporary rooms on the harbour
  • Above a popular bistro and bar
  • Several rooms with harbour views
  • Walk to ferries and the railway path
  • Surrounded by St Aubin's seafood restaurants

Where you'll find it

The Inn sits right on St Aubin's Harbour, at the western end of St Aubin's Bay. The ferry terminal is about fifteen minutes away by bus, and the flat coastal railway path runs to St Helier in one direction and on towards the west in the other. Buses 12 and 15 serve the village, and a string of seafood restaurants lines the same quay.

Insider tip

Request a harbour-view room when you book, and note there is no lift — pack light for the stairs. Summer weekends sell out well ahead.

Best time to visit

Open year-round; late spring to early autumn is best for the harbour buzz and outdoor dining, but expect it to book up.

Good to know

Limited rooms — books up early in summer; minimum stay at peak weekends.
