The story

Established by the celebrated naturalist Gerald Durrell in 1959, Jersey Zoo champions a distinctive approach to zoology. Rather than mere exhibition, its core mission, under the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, is to prevent species extinction. What to expect

The enclosures are designed to mimic natural environments, providing ample space for the animals. While much of the experience is outdoors, there are indoor viewing areas and exhibits, making it a viable option even on wetter days. Expect to spend a solid half-day exploring the grounds.

Where you'll find it

Located in the tranquil parish of Trinity, in the north-east of the island, the zoo is easily accessible by car or local bus services. Situated at Les Augres Manor, it offers a peaceful rural setting. Its somewhat central island location means it is not far from other countryside attractions and scenic routes, perfect for combining with a drive through Jersey's green lanes.
