The story
Havre des Pas Lido is a distinctive round seawater bathing pool built in 1895, one of the last surviving tidal pools of its kind in the British Isles. It fills with saltwater on every high tide and empties on the ebb, so a swim here looks different every visit. It sits a few minutes' walk east of central St Helier, along the atmospheric Havre des Pas promenade lined with Victorian guesthouses and cafés. It's a local favourite for morning dips, sunbathing on the concrete deck and jumping in from the platform. Entry is free.
What to expect
The only tidal bathing pool of its kind on Jersey — a saltwater swim looking out over the open English Channel, in the heart of St Helier's old seaside quarter.
Good to know
The pool only fills at high tide — check the tide timetable. No lifeguard. Cafés and parking nearby.
