The Ommaroo Hotel

A friendly, family-run hotel on the Victorian Havre des Pas promenade, where the front rooms look straight out over the sea wall to the bay and the historic tidal swimming pool below. The style is classic seaside-hotel rather than boutique - comfortable, unfussy rooms, a cooked breakfast to set you up for the day, and a sun terrace that's a lovely spot for a drink as the tide comes in. Its position on the promenade puts the tidal pool, paddling areas and a stretch of coastal walking right on the doorstep, while St Helier's shops, harbour and bus station are an easy ten-minute walk away. It particularly suits couples and walkers after a no-frills sea-view stay at a sensible price, rather than families wanting extensive on-site facilities. In the evening, the terrace and sea-facing rooms catch good sunsets over the bay.

Promenade-facing rooms cost a little more but are worth requesting for the view - it's a level, easy walk into St Helier from here.
