A family-run café rebuilt from a derelict ruin right on Portelet beach, serving authentic wood-fired pizza, seasonal fresh fish and salads built from local produce. The wood-fired oven sits in full view, sending out blistered, char-edged pizzas to a mix of sun-loungers, picnic tables and a small indoor dining area when the weather turns. Indoor and outdoor tables look straight across one of Jersey's prettiest, most secluded south-coast bays, with the tide creeping over golden sand and the rocky headlands of Noirmont and Portelet framing the view. Reaching it is part of the adventure - the steep cliff steps or a boat trip across the bay mean it never feels overrun, giving it a hideaway feel that's rare so close to St Brelade. It's a memorable spot for couples after something a little different and for families happy to make the climb for a proper sit-down meal by the sea.
Access is only via roughly 100 steps down the cliff (or by boat), so pack light and wear sensible shoes; check tide times before walking down if you plan to swim, as the beach narrows considerably at high tide.
££ - café/pizza prices.
Open year-round; weather can affect hours - check before walking down.
Bus 12 towards Noirmont; parking above the bay, then steps.
Not accessible for wheelchairs or prams - long staircase only.
